Riya joined the Sherr Lab in October 2015 as a research assistant, inspired by her experience working with a special education classroom as a teacher's aide where she was able to interact very personally with students with neurodevelopmental disorders. She provides administrative support for the Sherr Lab through recruitment and enrollment of participant families, sample and data collection, and data entry and management. She is an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley majoring in Public Health and intends to pursue a career in medicine. Riya is also a clinic organizer in a campus organization, Bhagat Puran Singh Health Initiative, which provides free health screening to South Asians in the bay area. She also enjoys cooking, listening to podcasts, and spending time with friends and family.
