Dr. Bethany Johnson-Kerner is interested in the genetics of human cortical development. To study this, she uses human-derived neurons from induced pluripotent stem cells made from patients with specific mutations and reproducible phenotypes. Bethany completed her undergraduate education in Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Chicago, and attained her MD and PhD degrees at Columbia University. Bethany trained in Pediatrics and is currently completing her residency in Child Neurology at UCSF. She will start a research fellowship in the Sherr lab after completing her clinical training in 2019.
